The Global Soil Mycobiome consortium dataset for boosting fungal diversity research

چکیده

Fungi are highly important biotic components of terrestrial ecosystems, but we still have a very limited understanding about their diversity and distribution. This data article releases global soil fungal dataset the Global Soil Mycobiome consortium (GSMc) to boost further research in diversity, biogeography macroecology. The comprises 722,682 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) derived from PacBio sequencing full-length ITS 18S-V9 variable regions 3200 plots 108 countries on all continents. supplied with geographical edaphic metadata. OTUs taxonomically functionally assigned guilds other functional groups. entire has been corrected by excluding chimeras, index-switch artefacts potential contamination. is more inclusive terms breadth phylogenetic fungi than previously published data. GSMc available over PlutoF repository.

CAT2000: A Large Scale Fixation Dataset for Boosting Saliency Research

Saliency modeling has been an active research area in computer vision for about two decades. Existing state of the art models perform very well in predicting where people look in natural scenes. There is, however, the risk that these models may have been overfitting themselves to available small scale biased datasets, thus trapping the progress in a local minimum. To gain a deeper insight regar...

Novel ITS1 Fungal Primers for Characterization of the Mycobiome

Studies of the human microbiome frequently omit characterization of fungal communities (the mycobiome), which limits our ability to investigate how fungal communities influence human health. The internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITS1) region of the eukaryotic ribosomal cluster has features allowing for wide taxonomic coverage and has been recognized as a suitable barcode region for species-level i...

Soil fungal community responses to global changes

The seasonal dynamics of soil fungal and bacterial communities are important for understanding the future ecosystem responses to global change due to their role in nutrient cycling and organic matter decomposition. After fourth year of increased temperature, extended drought and elevated CO2, soil samples were collected during one year to gain insight into how these treatments affected seasonal...

FUNGAL BIOGEOGRAPHY. Response to Comment on "Global diversity and geography of soil fungi".

Schadt and Rosling (Technical Comment, 26 June 2015, p. 1438) argue that primer-template mismatches neglected the fungal class Archaeorhizomycetes in a global soil survey. Amplicon-based metabarcoding of nine barcode-primer pair combinations and polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-free shotgun metagenomics revealed that barcode and primer choice and PCR bias drive the diversity and composition of m...

Characterization of the Oral Fungal Microbiome (Mycobiome) in Healthy Individuals

The oral microbiome-organisms residing in the oral cavity and their collective genome-are critical components of health and disease. The fungal component of the oral microbiota has not been characterized. In this study, we used a novel multitag pyrosequencing approach to characterize fungi present in the oral cavity of 20 healthy individuals, using the pan-fungal internal transcribed spacer (IT...
